Professionally it is inappropriate to have personal relationships with patients. Often in the ambulance service; as we only see our patients once, we often dont get to know our patients very well. However we do spend up to an hour at a time with patients. This is different to hospital or gp surgeries where patients come back to see you again and you get to know them a little better. I hope this answers the question.
