The shifts within the ambulance service are normally a 4days on 4days off rotation – all shifts are normally 12 hours long. Most rota patterns have 7 weeks of the 4 on 4 off then 18 days in a row off. This encompasses days – late shifts and night shifts + Christmas and Bank holidays and weekends.
