      Hello Eliza,

I have been fortunate enough to experience child birth personally and professionally and both were very different.

Professionally I have been exposed to five births as a student nurse whilst gaining exposure in maternity environments. I took great pride in learning about the human body and the changes which occurs during pregnancy, I particularly enjoyed caring for the women and her unborn / born infant at such an intimate and vulnerable time, welcoming life is an absolute privilege however, can be extremely challenging emotionally and requires knowledgeable and capable professionals to deliver safe and effective care.

Yes I did a placement as a student nurse on delivery suite. It was amazing but not for me. I prefer adult nursing but I wouldn’t have known unless I went on the placement.thats the really great thing about your training. You get to see list of different specialities and decide if you like them or not. Kirsty
